Place to Call Home...

During uncertainty trial tribulations and chaos the best place to call home is where we find peace and glimmers of hope/ rays of light ! Wherever that may be ...with family, pursuing passion, hobbies, travel ,nature, seeing a sunrise .and sometimes it is in simplicity of comradeship and companionship.  Sunrise is born from this idea.                                                        Sunrise - oil on canvas - March 2021

Intrepid Voyage & New Discoveries...

Hope is never lost..this is not the end..just a passage to the other side...We shall triumph over all odds and come out stronger on the other side.  Hope is in the sound the of bird that wakes me every morning to remind me of a new day despite the night being cruel and taking her child away. Hope is in the flight of the bird that departs from her nest in the morning leaving her chicks behind as she forages for food. Life is like a project, an opportunity to make things better, unlearn old stories and create new ones... Unexlored territory has no maps...and the intrepid explorer is guided only by an inner compass to new adventures of discovery and mystery moving with the wind where the waves take her....  This is the idea behind ...'Intrepid Voyage'.....                                                  Intrepid Voyage  - oil on canvas - Feb 2021

Infinite Possibilities Await...

When I contemplate on existence, how we came about, where we are headed, what is my purpose ....I come back to one marvelous reality - my existence amongst a myriad of galaxies, stars, cosmic waves and motion - all moving in tandem, harmony and synchronicity. I am reminded of our existence amidst infinite possibilities of life. Every line, every circle, every pattern in the depths of the seas, heights of land and spaces in between work in perfect rhythm and flow. There is structure, order and perfection in nature and our existence.  This is the beginning of my new series-  Space  & Cosmic energies ....  Infinite Possibilities - acrylic on canvas                                                        ...

Living with Covid & Surviving it with Abstract...

First piece of 2021 - New beginning - acrylic on canvas - Jan 2021 It is the 2021 and we are still living with Covid- 19.  Hope is never lost..this is not the end..just a passage to the other side.We shall triumph over all odds and come out stronger on the other side.  Hope is in the sound the of bird that wakes me every morning to remind me of a new day despite the night being cruel and taking her child away. Hope is in the flight of the bird that departs from her nest in the morning leaving her chicks behind as she forages for food.Hope is in the freedom. Freedom in abstract : When making an abstract painting, it is setting  yourself free however knowing where to start when to call it finished and understanding every delicate stage and layer in.between ! When we think of Abstract Art, it seems ...

Garden of Life still awaits...

During November and December 2020 my garden has flourished. It seems this pandemic will stop us moving around, close public facilities and limit our interactions with one another however it wont stop nature from showing its beauty...and I am one definitely to want to share such beauty with you so you too can enjoy and experience the grace and magnificent of nature (without leaving your home, for some!)   Being an avid flower lover this was party time for me!...and certainly the best time for me to go outside breath in the fresh air and take some photographs....   My Garden in Bloom!... Nov and Dec 2020 And two months later....   This painting, I called Garden of Life came from my imagination - a semi- abstact interpretation of the beauty around me.                                          ...

🎁 A Gift to Kongo Mosque, Diani

My Father has been part of a plan to reconstruct, renovate and renew Kongo Mosque, ( a now preserved World Heritage Site location) in Diani Beach, Coastal Province of Kenya  Kongo Mosque is at the northern end of the beach road (follow the faded sign behind the Jacaranda Resort), a 16 Century construction,  Diani’s last surviving relic of the ancient Swahili civilisations that once controlled the coast, and one of a very few handful of coral mosques still in use in Kenya.  The baobab tree studded beach is a wonderful picnic spot and the mosque is worth a visit! Following my visit my Father suggested my contribution to the Mosque with an Islamic Artwork.   To end 2020 I gifted my Father the piece I created (while having Corona myself!) Somehow illness can drive us to push ourselves to do more!... A Gift to Father - Dr M.W.Butt ( Words Flowing In the Sea - oil on canvas Dec' 2020)
