Extracting from Pain

At many times in life we experience Pain. We cannot hide from it or escape from it. It is part of life. Instead of hiding pain from being expressed through Art, I have chosen to express it.  Negativity or pain can be used to create something rather than hide something. 'Extracting from Pain in Nature' is purely emotionally led and inspired.

I believe,  if painting can be used to express positive emotions, it can also be used to express negative emotions. Usually the negative emotions remain in our memories for longer. I realized from the negative emotions I could extract and release something positive and permanent that others could see and sense and this gave me a feeling of being free

The first is that we as humans are bound yet distinct, connected yet individually unique like the trees that have similar leaves but differently shaped trunks and branches. The two trees stand tall but fragile, a symbol of the mix of opportunity and struggles in life, each valuable in their own way .  The disappointments and pain is represented through the twists, turns & the valleys and upward/downward changes in land in the painting.

In life mixed with the joy even the pain will teach us something new, challenge our thinking but provide a valuable lesson, lead us to a new direction or change our usual system all in the plan for the best and to make us stronger for the future.  We can either choose to let the pain consume us or we can extract positivity from the pain and move forward.

Goodbye 2023....

And Hello 2024 ! .....  As the new year begins, it whispers of letting go of what has been and looking towards the future. Every one of us starts the new year with contemplation of everything we want to achieve, goals and inspiration for the new year and as we do that we need to remind ourselves to be easy on ourselves and experience every day as it comes, be in the present and avoid over thinking, remembering always that every single drop makes the ocean.  Today, the first day of the new year started for me with optimism, hopes and wishes for an even better year than last. As the first night of the year draws near I'm reminded of all the possibilities that await as I turn the first page of a new chapter today.  While reflecting on the last one year and looking towards the next, I'm also reminded of my countless blessings and the many things I should be thankful and grateful for. As I cherish deeper what I have a part of my soul bleeds for the many who are facing sufferin...

Connecting with the Self

As we journey through this life there is a part of us that is not visible to the eye and trascends beyond - our  soul. Every time I pick up the brush and paint, I feel this part of me awakened and I am in tune with this facet of being. It exists in a far more powerful realm than we can see with our eyes, however we can feel its existence once we tap into that infinite  wisdom that holds all the connections between our most inner most secrets, abilities, visions and dreams. It is  a sanctuary of eternal divinity once tapped releases the energy of being connected with the source power.  It knows our deepest truths and is a comforting guidance that shines brightly to illuminate the path for us. It allows us to utilise our intuitive experience to pave the way forward for us without doubt and fear but trust and faith.  If we all stopped for a moment and asked ourselves to connect with our soul how would that feel ?  Unfortunately many are trapped in chasin...

UM Gallery Womans Month - June 2022

Women's Month Exhibition titled "Breaking the Bias Value Our Differences"   started 1 June to 31 June  Thursday - Sunday 10 am  - 7 pm  @ UM Gallery, First Floor, The Waterfront Karen, Nairobi It was a Celebration of the Uniqueness, Beauty , Essence of Women and their role in community and society !   The title of the exhibition speaks for itself. Artworks were on display that expressed Artists interpretation of breaking the bias around gender equality, womens rights, women at work, societal bias of women.  While creating my own artworks, I contemplated on the idea of the multi-faceted nature of The Woman figure. The same woman who can keep a child in her belly for 9 months, can be a housewife a CEO or anything she wants to be. I reflected on the stigma around the right role of a woman  and the exhibition was my way to highlight this very important topic. It is women who can make that change. As a woman, how do I express my individu...
